THE WORLDS FAR-FLUNG TREKKING OLLEROS–CARHUASCANCHATREK PROGRAM HUARAZ – OLLEROS – CARHUASCANCHA TREK – HUARAZ

DAY 1: Huaraz – Olleros (3400m) – Sacracancha (4050m)
We start our day driving to the south of Callejón de Huaylas about 50 minutes to the tiny picturesque Olleros village, Where we will meet with our donkeys and donkey drivers, as soon as they load our trekking gears, we begin walking up to the right bank of Rio Negro on gently grade, walk up on wide green lush valley of quebrada uquian with awesome view of: mounts Shaqsha, Uruashraju, Rurec and Tuctupunta, the view follow us until reach our camping spot on wide alpine meadow. Overnight camp at sacracancha. Meals: S / L / D
DAY 2: Sacracancha - Yanashallash Pass (4700m) – Shonco (4050m)
After our hearty breakfast we will walk up on gradual ascent of ancient pre-Inca trail watching shallow lakes, marshy sides on the valley until reach the Yanashallash pass 4700m, where we will be on strategically position to appreciate the spiraling peaks of Huantsan, Rurec and Uruashraju, As we cross the pass, we will walk down on rocky trail on several loops, until reach the nice green lush valley, which follow until campsite. Overnight camp at shonco. Meals: B / S / L / D
DAY 3: Shonco - Hato (3700m) - Castillapampa (4350m)
This day we will walk down about 2 hours to the high Andean mountain village of Hato at (3,700m), as soon as pass it, we will begin walking up on wide idyllic meadow at alhuinia valley with superb view of mount Huantzan imposing peak to the background, heading alhuinia valley, offers absolutely dramatic view of summits, various lagoons, spectacular mountain views of Urhuasraju, Rurec, Huantzan & colorful shallow lakes - camping spot at Castillapampa. Overnight camp at castillapampa. Meals: B / S / L / D
DAY 4: Castillapampa - Santa Rosa (4850m) - carhuascancha (3900m)
This Day after our breakfast, we will start walking up on gradual ascent with some marshy sections the pass comes into the view ahead, the faint path ascent on rocky sections on the last part before reaching Santa Rosa pass, as soon as we reach it we will have panorama view around us outstanding view of peaks heading as Huantzan, and Rurec, then we descend on rock and land slide path via an ablation valley toward rima rima valley which becomes a little bit dangerous and sleepy in rein season, along the rimarima valley, where we will be able to observe the endemic plant of rima rima, follow descending on grassy valley until reach the plateau with fantastic mountain view huantzan, san juan, cayesh dominate the western skyline. Continue descending we arrive to carhuascancha valley with wonderful vista to the background. Overnight camp carhuascancha valley. Meals: B / S / L / D
DAY 5: Carhuascancha - San Marcos Village - chavin (3150m) – Huaraz
After our breakfast we walk down along main lush green Carhuascancha Valley until small Yuracyacu village. Where we will finish our trek. Our private transportation will be waiting to bring us to Huaraz. After a nice shower and some rest in Huaraz hotel, you can enjoy a tasty dinner in town to celebrate your trekking success. As soon we arrive chavin we stop to visit the ancient pre – inca temple of chavin: This impressive cultural travel is located in Conchucos valley, this mysterious pre-Inca temple is considered the main culture in all the Andes, was discovered by Peruvian archaeologist Julio Cesar Tello in 1919, who introduce to the world about the existence of this Andean culture, is considered as: the cradle of Andean civilization, the oldest stone structure of Peruvian culture (200 BC ), inside the imposing temple, we find the monolithic Lanzon of Chavin (the great idol), where chavin high priest consulted their gods, The Temple is decorated with the famous tenon Heads around it and rock slab of ovelisco Tello and Stela Raimondi with anthropomorphic figures, the structure made of enormous block stones, contain with several subterranean galleries and finely carved sculptures with designs, felines, birds and serpents, that is characteristic of chavin iconography, as well as contain stone lined galleries, , performed sacrificial ceremonies and stored ritual paraphernalia. WHAT TO BRING
WHAT TO BRING FOR TREKKING-
CLOTHING
- Walking boot or hiking shoes: These are the boots you will wear on the trek over high passes, then you'll need a couple shoes of handling a bit of slippery snow and very rough and rocky trails. For example a B0 or B1 ankle-high boot.
- For multiday treks is advisable a pair of sandals to wear around camp instead of sneakers
- A couple of fast drying base-layer tops (made of synthetic material is preferable instead of cotton or wool t-shirt) (whatever material can be long sleeve is advisable)
- Mid – layer (mid weight fleece or a synthetic insulation jacket (e.g primaloft) as well as full of thermal underwear to wear in the evening.
- Wear light/medium - weight trousers that allow the free movement and will dry quickly.
- Down jacket is nice or a micro –down jacket
- A woolly hat and thermal gloves ( a pair polar Tec)
- A light weight waterproof jacket shell proof ( gore - tex)
- A light weight waterproof pants or over-trouser (Gore - Tex) are recommendable.
- Wind proof waist coat or jacket (optional)
- Light weight cotton or synthetic pants / trouser: for hiking in the mountains or for hiking around camp Shorts are Ok.
- A pair of high quality sunglasses is essential (dark sport sunglasses) spectrum 3 for trekking
- At least 3 pairs of good quality hiking socks (liner sock can be to reduce abrasion and blister.
- Sun hat: Or baseball cap with bandanna safety pinned to it to keep the sun off your face and neck.
- Thermal liners
- Neck gaiter or balaclava (wool or synthetic, mid-weight) the neck gaiter is more versatile and can serve as ear band
- Sleeping bag – 15ºC should be enough to sleep well (down or synthetic)
- Foam sleeping pad or a therm- a – rest (prolite or NeoAir for a better night sleep) which is the best for more comfort at high camp.
- 2 liters water bottle (Nalgene) or camelback
- Water treatment (chlorine dioxide tablets) (micro pure) (optional)
- Headlamp or head torch with extra batteries (we recommended all use LED technology).
- Good quality sun cream (Sunscreen) for using around the camp

- Have loperamide is a good idea in case you get the runs

- Toilets such us: Toothbrush, small amount of toothpaste, dental floss, contact lens fluids, a small bar of soap, and small hand towel or wash clothes.
- On most expeditions in base camps we can supply you with a small bowl of warm washing water in the morning and afternoon.
- A small synthetic hand towel (wash clothes) is useful for taking a sponge bath, toilet paper.
