COLCA CANYON is the second deepest canyon in our planet, double deep Grand Canyon of United States. its located in the middle of two highest volcanoes Coropuna (6450M) & Ampato (6380M), this canyon is one of the most famous place to visit by adventure lovers from everywhere in world, offer a wonderful area to see the rich cultural remains, immense varieties of flora and fauna, snow ranges, lush green valleys, old and colony town, mighty rivers crossing the Andes, thousands of pre Inca terraces, friendly and charm settlers live in this part of Peru.

DAY 1: Arequipa – cabanaconde 3280 m – san juan de chuccho (2300m)
DAY 2: San Juan De Chuccho - Llatica Canyon - Fure Village
DAY 3: Fure Village - Waruro Waterfall - Llahuar Lodge
DAY 4: Llahuar - Soro Valley - Cabanaconde - Condor Cross Viewpoint - Chivay - Arequipa


Note: trekking colca canyon is advisable for any kind of adventure lovers, who are looking for enjoy great hiking experience.

SUGGESTION: please understand before trekking colca you should complete a good acclimatization process to avoid altitude sickness, let us know to give you a suitable advice.

ITINERARY

TREK PROGRAM AREQUIPA – COLCA CANYON – AREQUIPA 4 DAYS

Included meals: B = Breakfast / snack = S / D = Dinner

DAY 1: AREQUIPA – CHIGUATA - PASTORES 3400 M– EAGLE NETS 4800 M
We will pick up you with our private transportation at 3AM from hotel in Arequipa, will take around 6 hours to Colca Canyon - Cabanaconde village. At 8:45AM brief stop at the Condor Cross viewpoint (3600 meters above sea level). Lunch at Cabanaconde (3280M), located in the left rim of the Canyon. At cabanaconde start trekking of Colca Canyon descending 4 hours until reach the Colca River (2160M). We will cross to the other side of the Canyon and ascend to our family cabins or camping place at 2PM arrival to the lodge and short walk to the San Juan de Chuccho village (2300M) - Late lunch will be provided by local family. Alternative get together with locals from this valley, participation in agricultural and other activities around as short walk to see the ruins on the upper section of the valley - Dinner and family lodge, the room have nice view of the canyon, cold shower available and bath is out of the room . Overnight at San Juan de chuccho. Meal: S / L / D

DAY 2: SAN JUAN DE CHUCCHO - LLATICA CANYON - FURE VILLAGE

After the breakfast offered by the family we begin our long ascent to our next village called Tapay (3000M). Where we will Visit Cosñirhua and Malata (2600M) its church of mixed racial ancestry, sights of the local landscape, very old terraces, several summits looming, varieties of flora & fauna. After six hours hiking into (Colca & Llatica canyons) passing small rivers, cactus forest, dry and dirty zones, we will arrive to Fure village (3100M), located on the left rim of the Llatica canyon with mighty clean river. Around 2PM have lunch in family lodge, located over small hill, supported by pre Incas terraces worked by local villages and the best views of this greenness canyon. Free afternoon for rest, to explorer around or you can exchange languages with curious local kids - The room is without bath and available cold shower, Breakfast, lunch, dinners at family lodge or Camping area. Overnight at fure village. Meal: B / S / L / D

DAY 3: FURE VILLAGE - WARURO WATERFALL - LLAHUAR LODGE
Before the breakfast we will do a short hike toward a nice waterfall of Waruro (80 m high) located on the right bank of the Llatica river, path follow through cactuses, on cliff sites, after an hour walking up we reach to the waterfall, in completely green & noisy place then we back to the camp or lodge to have breakfast around 9 am, then we continue hiking down to Llatica village we cross the river by an hanging bridge, short explore to this quite place. Around 2PM we will arrive to deepest area of the Colca canyon. Llahuar (2100M) is a great place located between Colca and Llatica rivers, one of the best places to have lunch with incredible view of both canyons. The afternoon is free to enjoy and use the thermals pools (hot spring 38°C temperature) next to the river. The bath are out of the room and cold shower available. Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner in Family Lodge or Camping. Overnight at llahuar village. Meal: B / L / D

DAY 4: LLAHUAR LODGE - SORO VALLEY - CABANACONDE - CONDOR CROSS VIEWPOINT - CHIVAY - AREQUIPA
PRIVATE SERVICE: At 5AM will be our breakfast and then we will do short hike on the left bank of the Colca river to meet the transport and then drive on gravel road to leave the canyon up to Cabanaconde (3285M) for about 1 hour. Around 8AM we will be at the famous at Mirador Cruz Del Condor (3600M), there we will wait enough time to observe the flight of biggest birds in the world (the spectacular Andean condor will looming soring over the canyon, where we will take a hundred of pictures). We continue travelling by private car passing on several villages like Achoma, Maca, Yanque and Chivay, located on the left margin of the Colca River, where we will have lunch around 12PM in good typical restaurant in Chivay (3600M) and then follow travelling 4 hours more to Arequipa. Overnight at arequipa . Meal: B / L

    CLOTHING
  • Hiking shoes: These are the boots you will wear to approach to base camp. For example a B0 is advisable.
  • Socks: We recommend you bring 2 changes of socks for your hiking shoes and 2 changes for your climbing boots. Many people like to wear a thin liner sock. This can reduce abrasion and blisters
  • Lightweight Synthetic gloves : a pair of polar - tec
  • sun hat: Or baseball cap with bandanna safety pinned to it to keep the sun off your face and neck
  • Balaclava or Neck gaiters: Wool or synthetic, mid-weight, the neck gaiter is more versatile, and can serve as the ear band just only one of them.
  • Light weight cotton or synthetic pants / trouser: for hiking in the mountains.
  • A couple of fast drying base-layer tops (whatever material can be long sleeve is advisable)
  • Wear light/mediumweight trousers that allow the free movement and will dry quickly
  • Fleece jacket (polar Tec)
  • Pants shell proof with zipper (gore – tex).: The slightly stretchy "Schoeller" type fabric is ideal. Patagonia, Mammut, Eider, Millet, Marmot.

  • Sleeping bag: For camps about 3000 meters, you'll want a bag rated to about -5°C. For higher camps you'll want to go warmer yet.

  • Headlamp or head torch with extra batteries (we recommended all use LED technology) Petzl's or black diamond.

    Bring paracetamol, and acetazolamide or Diamox for treating mild symptoms of (AMS).
    Have loperamide is a good idea in case you get the runs
  • Antibiotic such as: ciprofloxacin or Bactrim for bacterial stomach bugs.
  • A small roll of adhesive tape, cough drops.
